Review - Bubble Tea from Chachago (Markham, Ontario)

1:51:00 PM

If it wasn't enough, there were officially unique 6 bubble tea brands (Chachago, Alley, Chatime, Coco, Tea168, Presto) at Commerce Gate plaza near Hwy 7 and Leslie. If any more show up, it will end up becoming like Pacific Mall first floor. For this bubble tea drink, my colleague and I wanted a small snack. I was still hungry from my lunch (leftovers from last night dinner). I suggested that we try this new bubble tea store that opened in March 2017.

Atmosphere:
The Chachago replaced a previous Italian sandwich business. You can find this new place within the main plaza building with entrances/exits within the building or outside on the side (north east). There was very limited seating (3 tables - 2 chairs max per table). Honestly, the area wasn't as big as Chatime and smaller than the Alley nearby.

Service:

The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions. They also had free Wi-Fi but needed to ask for the password.

Food:
This was Chachago's second location within Toronto with the first one in the downtown core. Chachago emphasized on using quality and fresh ingredients. Many of their bubble teas used all fresh fruit in their drinks.  My colleague and I decided to try out their signature drink - Taiwan Taro Milk Tea - ($7 CAD). There were no options for drink sizes and there were 5 sugar level options.

In regards to the taste of the drink, the tea was exceptionally strong for the flavour. The drink had chunks of real taro at the bottom of the cup. Lastly, I had assumed that the sugar level would be overdose if I had ordered at full levels compared to the other bubble tea brands; hence, I ordered "half sugar".  To my surprise, their sugar levels are a lot lower. Lucky the taro was sweet enough to help flavour the entire drink.

I noticed that they also sold egg waffles options similar to Woofles and Creams. To limit my calories intake, I will have to sample the waffle another time.

Verdict:
Always good to have increasing competition with bubble tea brands. The teas were definitely expensive; however, the ingredients compensate for the price. The tea was really strong and sent me working through the rest of the day. I definitely would come back to check out the other offerings.
