Eating @ Legend Pot

Now that the weather is getting a bit colder and we transition to fall. What better way to cope with the chills than a nice hotpot meal?I've always loved hotpot! I would say it's one of my all time favorite things to eat in this whole entire world! What's not to love? Fresh ingredients cooked over a yummy broth!

When my SO suggested we try out this hot pot place, I gladly accepted. The previous restaurant of this location was iHotPot. I hope it has better fortunes than the previous owner.

This place is situated in the T&T plaza. As such, finding parking spot during dinner hours was very  chaotic. Luckily, I was able to find a spot right in front of the restaurant.

The decor was pretty cool looking. The decor theme was like an ancient Chinese palace with black and white themes. There were small booths for small parties and large tables for bigger groups. We were very lucky with getting a booth without reservations. As the time went by, there were larger lines of people waiting to get into the restaurant.

The staff spoke well in Mandarin. They were fast and prompt with our requests for dishes, soup and water refills.

For someone who hasn't done hot pot food before, you basically get fresh ingredients and cook the ingredients in your boiling broth. The menu selection for the all you can eat was very large (see the image below).

The food was very fresh! I loved the beef the most! There was a good mixture of fat in it so it was very tender! There was an assortment of hotpot items found on the menu. All were very fresh. I enjoyed the assortment of meat balls and dumplings. Additionally, we discovered that they offered fresh pan fried buns off the menu.

There were also other items available which were not incluced in the dinner menu via a la carte. I was used to making my own dip sauces in other Hong Kong (HK) style hot pot restaurants. For this place, you ordered the sauces to be delivered to the table. The flavours of the dip were completely different from HK style with a focus on Northern style dips (more savory than sweet). The meal also comes with a dessert.

I really enjoyed Legend pot. Some people have shared with me that they find it pricier  when compared to other hotpot places. I would agree with that. You normally wouldn't pay $35-40 per person for a meal ...

Would I come back? Yes. Previously in Toronto, many of the hot pot style restaurants were Cantonese style. It was great to see a new different option in town.
